Community Service Efforts Become Year-Round Commitment at MCAR Giving back to the community has become more than a once-a-year effort for the Montgomery County Association of REALTORS®. In 2009, MCAR expanded and extended its support of the local community and Family Services of Montgomery County. This year, MCAR members volunteered at three separate events and were able to have a positive impact on a greater number and variety of Montgomery County residents.
MCAR REALTORS® Reach Out - October 5 - 9, 2009!
As seniors age, it’s often harder for them to keep up with their homes, especially their yards as the weather turns colder. For this the reason MCAR members are teaming up with Family Services' Project HEARTH (Helping Elderly Adults Remain in their Homes) program to perform much-needed Fall clean-up chores at the homes of 14 elderly residents. Teams of volunteers will be out in force raking leaves, pruning bushes, tidying gardens and performing other yardwork as needed at the homes of elderly residents living in all areas of Montgomery County - Collegeville, Conshohocken, Glenside, Harleysville, Hatfield, Lansdale, Norristown, Pottstown, Royersford, Willow Grove, and Wyncote. MCAR volunteers were on hand at the Family Day Celebration Dinner, serving up meals to about 180 local residents. MCAR became involved in this event through our partnership with Family Services. Check out the photos. Norristown Youth Rally - June 13, 2009
Children who attended the festival were entertained by a fun-loving clown, enjoyed getting their faces painted and went home with a coloring book and crayons, all compliments of the Montgomery County Association of REALTORS®. Parents left MCAR's table with information about the first time home buyer tax credit and a booklet full of energy-savings tips and strategies. Check out the photos.

Held at Gotwals Elementary School, the Family Day Celebration Dinner is part of a national initiative that promotes regular family activities and family dinners as simple and effective ways to reduce children’s and teens’ risk of smoking, drinking, and using illegal drugs. The event was started in 2001 by the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse.
