Professional Conduct

clientuploads/directory/professionalstandards/Rules postcard 4.jpgThe professional standard that sets REALTORS® apart from other real estate practitioners is their acceptance and adherence to the Code of Ethics. Established by the National Association of REALTORS®, the Code has been revised many times through the years to reflect current developments in professional real estate practice such as signage, advertising and internet protocol.

Since its adoption in 1913, the Code has promoted time-honored principles that are generally defined as:

  • Loyalty to clients
  • Fiduciary duty to clients
  • Cooperation with competitors
  • Truthfulness in statements and advertising and non-interference in exclusive relationships that other REALTORS® have with their clients.
